Over 80 harmful toxins have been identified in the smoke emitted from tissue cauterization when using an electrosurgery device. Some studies have shown that exposure to electrosurgery smoke for one day is equal to smoking 27-30 unfiltered cigarettes, and inhaling smoke produced when using electrosurgery to burn tissue is equal to smoking 6 unfiltered cigarettes in the space of 15 minutes.
Smoke evacuation systems have been shown to significantly reduce the exposure of harmful volatile organic compounds to surgeons and other operating room staff.
The Knight Benedikt Smoke Evacuation System is able to be operated in 3 different ways. Automatic - The evacuator senses electrosurgical current via its sensor loop and will operate when the electrosurgical device is activated Manual/Continuous - Once turned on the unit will suction until it is switched offFoot Pedal - A foot pedal plugs into the evacuator and the unit will suction while the pedal is depressed and stop when pressure is lifted.
Compatible with the Knight Benedikt Electrosurgery Disposable Smoke Evacuation Handpiece.
The only maintenance required is external cleaning, replacement of tubing every 35 hours of use and replacement of the filter when the machine shows signs of inefficiency i.e. when a higher than normal vacuum setting is required to adequately remove smoke.
