This needs to be taken into account when measuring the depth of a hole. It???s also important to add 2-3mm to the depth measurement to account for full engagement of the trans-cortex by self-tapping screws. Some depth gauges already take the screw head into account. To check this, read the gauge when it???s full retracted. If it reads zero, then you need to add the 3-5mm onto any measurement. If it reads ~2mm then it has taken the screw head into account and only 2-3mm needs to be added to the depth measurement.
